There is much that our clinic has to offer to a pregnant woman, and her family. Each of our
practitioners has specific training in their fields relating to pregnancy.
Naturopathic Medicine
Both of our Naturopathic Doctors have a special interest in fertility and pregnancy care.
With us, a healthy pregnancy begins before conception. Many of our clients want to prepare
their body and mind for the changes that pregnancy brings on. This can be a cleanse, building
nutritional foundations, or clearing up lingering health concerns that could be difficult to
treat once conception is achieved. Some people also need specialised support to achieve conception.
Whether you are using pharmaceutical or natural methods to enhance fertility, our naturopathic
doctors can help you and your partner reduce stress, optimise health, and fine-tune your body to conceive.
Once you are pregnant, nutritional needs change, your body changes, moods change! We work with you
to naturally treat common and uncommon health care issues, keeping the specialised restrictions
of pregnancy physiology in mind. During your pregnancy, we also encourage you to create a birth
plan to outline your needs during labour and post partum. With this in place, it is much easier
for all of your care providers to work together to create the birthing environment you want.
Finally, our ND's are an invaluable support in labour. We can be called on for at-home labour
induction using time-honored acupuncture techniques if your pregnancy is overdue. We also
attend births for pain management and labour support - acupuncture has been extensively
studied as an effective form of pain management; homeopathic medicine is a safe, gentle,
and often "miraculous" tool for assisting in difficult labours and increasing pain tolerance.
Registered Massage Therapy
(including Craniosacral Therapy and Visceral Manipulation)
Massage is an excellent resource for a pregnant woman. Not only does it feel good, it can
address specific pregnancy related complaints such as swollen ankles and back pain before they
become problematic. Craniosacral and Visceral are very gentle and safe bodywork techniques that
work with physical and emotional tensions. These practices are also an alternative way to treat
physical conditions such as headaches, constipation and bladder problems without taking any kind
of medication. Our RMT Diana Griffin has had many years of experience in working with fertility,
pregnancy, and post-partum. Diana also recommends bringing in infants for a post-birth tune up.
Chiropractic Care for Pregnancy, Infants & Children
Chiropractic adjustments do not harm the pregnant mother or her unborn child. In fact, maintaining
a healthy spine and nervous system throughout pregnancy can prevent further postural problems that
might occur during and following childbirth.
Chiropractic has documented benefits in reducing back and pelvic pain during pregnancy. The application
of chiropractic adjustments during labour and delivery offer a safer method to reduce pain and
suffering that are usually dealt with via pain-relieving drugs. This ensures the safety of both
the mother and child.
People often ask if they should bring their infants and children in for care. The answer is an absolutely resounding YES!
I see infants for a variety of different reasons. Firstly, newborns are born with extremely immature nervous systems.
Some pediatric experts even refer to the first three months of life as "the fourth trimester". Infants are still in
the process of hardwiring the motor system through the nervous system, and NSA care helps to establish these motor
pathways. Secondly, there is an immense amount of compression and then stretching of a baby's delicate spine during
even normal labour and delivery, and it is greatly intensified with any interventions during birth. NSA care releases
the tension held in those little bodies and nervous systems, and I have seen truly incredible results in infants with
torticollis, "colic", difficulty latching for breast feeding, and severe sleep disturbances within a matter of only a few visits.
With toddlers and older children, the busy job of growth and development inevitably involves many physical, chemical,
and emotional stresses. Falls, slips, and bumps are extremely common, and spinal, muscular, and nervous system tension
accumulates. Back pain, asthma, "growing pains", digestion issues, ear infections, sleeping problems, recurrent infections,
and learning issues also respond very quickly to care once tension is released, since children have not yet established
long term unhealthy patterns. I have also seen amazing changes in preschool age children who have exhibited severe anxiety
since infancy, following particularly difficult births.
It is my greatest wish to see every child happy and healthy, able to express and live up to its highest potential. If
your child is struggling with a recurrent difficulty, or if you simply believe in a natural approach to your family's
health care, please feel free to discuss your children's health with me.
Fertility Support Program
It seems women in my generation are having a much harder time getting pregnant than ever before in history.
And, it makes sense - the birth control pill was just being developed in my mothers time! The environment is
more toxic than it has ever been, stress levels are at an all time high, and food quality is getting worse and
worse. Still, there is hope. Reproductive technology has revolutionized conception to an exact science. And,
natural treatment options have also proven to be extremely effective in supporting and enhancing fertility,
conception, healthy pregnancies, and beyond.
Some of the naturopathic and other therapies that work well for fertility support include acupuncture, herbal
formulas, constitutional and drainage homeopathy, craniosacral therapy, network chiropractic, stress management,
and lifestyle counseling. These therapies can address scar tissue or adhesions in the pelvis, rebalance hormones,
dissipate emotional traumas, clear toxicity, enhance detoxification, prevent recurrent miscarriage, improve sperm
quality and motility, and improve each phase of the menstrual cycle. Not every couple will need the same constellation
of therapies; therefore we tailor treatment our plans for each individual.
We have developed a fertility enhancement program that combines naturopathic medicine, network chiropractic
and craniosacral therapy. While there is a structure to the program, the components of it are designed to be
flexible allowing for individual couples needs - whether its acupuncture to assist IVF, detoxification as a
first step in fertility preparation, or simply mind and body support navigating the monthly ups and downs of
trying to get pregnant.

Bellytides Pre/Postnatal
Bellytides are individual and/or group sessions that connect pregnant women with the physical,
mental, emotional and spiritual journeys of pregnancy, birthing and beyond. Exploring the Mother
Goddess will deepen your wisdom of birth, energetically support this life transition, and ground
the birthing ritual. For your child, this opportunity is a true gift of love.
Spiritual Midwifery
Sandra Moon Dancer is a Midwife of Spirit. Her gifts and abilities are in the area of prenatal, birthing
and post-natal care. Spiritual midwifery is shamanic healing with a pregnant woman. It is consciously working
with the soul as it is being birthed: a powerful multiple birthing process as mother, baby and family are rebirthed.
Moon Dancer is one of the few facilitators with expertise in spiritual midwifery.
Both expectant and want-to-be mothers, as well as expectant and want-to-be fathers, experience wonderful growth through
spiritual midwifery.
Workshops meet Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30. Afternoon groups are available. All groups meet weekly for six sessions.
Additional times are available upon request.
Diverse families are welcome.
